As an art teacher I believe it is important to remember that every student is an artist, and so am I. I look forward to leading and guiding my students to love and pursue art inside and outside of the classroom. I believe that it is important for my classroom to have meaningful lessons, a place for my students to explore new ideas, and as the educator how important it is to interact with other faculty. I want art to be a place where they can escape from everyday life and create something that they enjoy, a place for my students to learn and grow and explore new creative opportunities. In my classroom I want my students to feel safe and comfortable while learning. I want them to be able to express themselves, and to have meaningful lessons. In the art classroom lessons can be geared to be student centered, while promoting big ideas; like cultural identity and connecting that big idea to a more specific topic that relates to art, as well as getting the kids thinking what inspires them outside of the classroom. Art is a place where I as the teacher can help my students create something outside the box, and allow them to learn more about the society and the way their art can be perceived by critiquing each other's work and what others get out of their pieces. The art classroom is a place for exploration, and learning new things. I want my students to feel comfortable in the medium that they are using, but also allow them to learn new techniques and enjoy new level of creativity. I want my classroom to be a safe place for students to learn, ask questions, and make mistakes and learn from them. I want them to explore new creative avenues in art, and figure out what they enjoy. As their teacher I want them to find the creative in them, and use it. As a teacher in a school I find it important to interact and work with other teachers. It is important to take other disciplines and implement it into my classroom. I find it beneficial for my students to learn how art can cross into other areas of their lives. Using art to teach other subject areas will allow the students to expand their knowledge and allow them to think differently and apply different ideas into the subject to better understand. My ultimate goal is for each student to understand their importance. I want them to grow and challenge them to express themselves creatively. I want my students to explore new ways of learning and creating while in my classroom, and feel comfortable doing so. I want to inspire my students to love art and want to showcase their talents. I want my classroom to be an escape where students can learn and express themselves creatively.
