The big idea for this lesson is to teach the students about Andy Warhol and american artist, and to teach them printmaking techniques. They will be creating pieces with foam board, and will be carving their ideas into the foam and will use ink to print the design onto small square pieces of paper.

Students will learn more about the Miami Indians, and their cultural practices in the social studies component. They will also gain an understanding on perspective as they will connect the Miami Indians farming life to a drawing using one point perspective farm scene, including corn and squash. They will be able to solve problems relating to space, and gain an understanding depth perception. This will leave some big questions for the students to consider? Can someone who is not Native American create real Native American art? In Native American artwork there is so much meaning and symbolism that we cannot understand because we did not grow up as part of their culture.

The purpose of this lesson is for students to learn more about Australia. Show them the importance of dot paintings, and what they mean to Australia. They will gain artistic experience and will be able to talk about the importance of learning about new cultures.

The purpose of this lesson is to teach students about Mayan culture. They will be learning about different civilizations and the mayan alphabet. They will gain artistic experience and will be able to demonstrate their understanding of thick vs. thin lines and their understanding of adding in string to their piece.

The purpose of this lesson is to teach about color symbolism, and how African culture represents that symbolism in Kente Cloths. They will gain artistic experience and will be able to demonstrate their understanding of color symbolism through a writing piece. They will also gain an understanding of how to weave paper!
